This Saturday, some of your coaches will be at an event that we feel would be really beneficial for you to attend for both it's educational and coolness factors. Cut and paste the link below for more information. http://roboticon.net/ |

There is going to be a cool event over in Tampa this weekend that I would encourage you and your family to go to. Below is the link: Hope to see you there! HAVE FUN!http://roboticon.net/ |
T-Shirts-> Be a Designer
Teams need t-shirts. Each team needs to start working on a design. The next meeting will discuss specifics but check out this link for some information: http://techbrick.com/Lego/TechBrick/TeamTips/Clothing.html Start designing!! (Don't tell me the link didn't work, there are two ways to get to the link if it won't click.) |
We Shall Eat!
A big thanks to Caleb for dropping off snacks for today's meeting. Remember, snack set should include a non-perishable food item and some type of drink (capri sun, etc.) for roughly 24 people. |
Website Check-up
This website as well as the game updates should be checked daily for news and rule changes/clarification. Tasks listed in this section are expected to be completed by all members in a timely fashion. Write down Robot Game Update #10 on a 3" x 5" index card or piece of paper to be entered into a drawing at the meeting this week. Must follow directions in order to be eligible. |
Newsletter and more . . .
We have seen quite a bit of attrition in the club. At this time, everyone should be assigned a team and with that assignment comes commitment. This week will be a key week in finalizing team assignments. Kits will be distributed and teams will start working on the Robot Game (the fun part) but everyone is expected to continue their research towards the project aspect. We have 6 teams and each team will be capped at 6. Therefore, from this point forward, you must be willing to adhere to the Student/Parent Contract (attached below) that you have all signed. If you have not, this week may be your last, so download it and bring it Wednesday. Also, weekly progress reports are not being turned in. Assignment to a team that represents Oak Grove Middle School means you need to do so in the proper FLL Core Values and Gracious Professionalism manner. We are searching for the best, so push forward and you will be rewarded. |
Newsletter Vol. 3
Link below. Please be sure to read this and continue to check here for weekly newsletter. A big thanks to Coach Paulik for putting these out so quick after a meeting to keep everyone informed. Remember, a successful FLL season requires a lot of work outside of club meetings. All team members should be working towards their goals on a daily, if not hourly ;), basis. |
Newsletter Vol. 2
The letter is attached below. Please open and read through. We also need the families with last name between A and G to bring in their snack. At this point we are snackless for our meeting this week. A big thanks to Logan Franklin for being on top of his game and providing last week's snack. |
Calling all Coaches
Our club has some rather larger numbers this year and we are again looking at multiple teams. I cannot coach multiple teams. At this time I am looking at 5-7 teams. I have some coaches already secured. However, I need many more head and numerous assistant coaches. Please review the link: You will see that FIRST provides amazing supporting materials. All it takes is a little compassion for children and innovation. Some time helps too. That's what I am short on and need your help. Please email admin@oakgroverobics.org (direct link at bottom of page, I think.) Let me know, who you are, who your student is, and intentions as head coach or assistant. Lastly, show up at Wednesday's meeting! Have fun.http://www.firstlegoleague.org/challenge/teamresources |
